Virtual Reality 4.0 Industry

The Mechanics department is actively involved in the CaMéX-IA Campus des Métiers d’excellence.

For the past two years, students have been developing virtual reality (VR) resources to create 3D models of industrial sites. A joint project with Arcelor aims to better visualize fluid and gas flows within production sites.

The virtual worlds are developed using Unreal Engine (Epic Games). The students have the opportunity to create all the resources, from CAD to the implementation of interactions, to make the digital twin industrially usable. Building on this experience, Master’s students have been working on the development of educational resources in VR (practical work on RDM in VR, fire alarms, containment alarms). A particular success was the virtual tour of the UFR MIM. You can see the video of this project at https://mim.univ-lorraine.fr/virtualisation/
